This is a very largefrog, with the females larger than the males and able to reach a weight of 500– 700 grams. Because of their large size, these frogs serve as a food forhumans in many areas of the world. As a result, they have become an invasivespecies in the countries where they have been raised as food, when individualshave escaped and established themselves within the wild. Through ambush, theyprey upon any small animal which they can put in their mouths, generallyfeeding on arthropods, fish, other amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and evensmall birds, which causes significant harm to the ecological systems to whichthey have spread.
