- At this South American exhibit, dwell species representing the various habitats in South America: the South American tapir, the largest land-dwelling animal in South America, found mainly in marsh areas, and the capybara, the world’s largest rodent, which comes from tropical brush areas.
- Another South American species is the collared peccary, a species from all over South America. The peccary may seem closely related to the pig but is actually connected to a different animal family.
