Eats berries, nuts, dates, and other fruits
Illegal trade, habitat destruction
The palm cockatoo is among the largest parrots in existence, and therefore, they have the nickname of Goliath parrot. Their beak is built in such a way that it does not completely close, which allows them to hold nuts and crack them easily. Their strong jaws can crack especially hard nuts. During courting season, the couple will approach one another with outspread wings. The male will bow to the female while whistling. His face will turn red. Sometimes, he will try to impress the female by drumming on a tree branch where the nest is located while also making loud vocal sounds.
